Wandelnet (NLD) |
The hiking organzation of the Netherlands (Wandelnet) created and maintain their own walking and hiking network in the Netherlands. This network is presented in their own RoutePlanner (accessed via the RoutePlanner-plugin of RouteYou). They also have a great set of POIs and hiking routes (the famous GR-paths). Also these are presented via the MapSearch and the RouteViewer of RouteYou. A historic overview
Some major milestones in the history of RouteYou:

- 2005 - May: RouteYou is founded as "Ontrack Navigation" by Philiep De Sutter.
- 2005 - December: Pascal Brackman starts as second partner and takes up operations and R&D. Also 2 other employees start: this is the operational start of RouteYou.
- 2006 - July: RouteYou launches the first RouteViewer to present routes in a digital & interactive way + a digital motor route product with Lannoo for Garmin and TomTom.
- 2006 - October: RouteYou develops an algorithm to calculate the nicest route for recreative purposes,...
- 2006 - December: RouteYou launches the community website on 21 december 2006: www.routeyou.com
- 2008 - June: RouteYou launches the first cycling and walking routable map with navigation instructions for GARMIN GPS devices (Belgium).
- 2008 - September:
- RouteYou launches with Waypoint the first navigable cycling map for the Netherlands on GARMIN devices.
- RouteYou launches with GOBT (Gelders Overijssels Bureau voor Toerisme) the first official cycle routeplanner in the Netherelands, using the cycle node network of Twente, Vechtdal & IJsseldelta. Later on, this is extended with Salland, Arnhem-Nijmegen, Kop van Overijssel & Achterhoek.
- 2008 - October 17: RouteYou launches with Toerisme Oost-Vlaanderen the first official cycle routeplanner in Flanders using the cycle node network of Flanders

- RouteYou launches the first walk routeplanner in the Netherlands for the province of Twente
- RouteYou launches with Garmin the first navigable topomap of Belgium for GARMIN GPS devices.

- 2009 - October: RouteYou & Waypoint launches the first recreational motormap for Garmin GPS devices in the Benelux. The rest of W-EUR follows the next months.

- 2011 - maart : RouteYou brengt zijn RoutePlanner 3.00 naar buiten met tal van nieuwe opties
- 2011 - april : RouteYou breekt door 500 000 bezoeken per maand limiet
- 2011 - june : RouteYou kreeg zijn 10 miljoenste bezoek sinds zijn start 5 jaar geleden
- 2011 - augustus : RouteYou breekt door 600 000 bezoeken per maand limiet
- 2011 - december : RouteYou zet een samenwerking op met Wandelnet (LAW): opnieuw een indicatie dat recreatieve navigatie met GPS voor wandelen sterk in de lift zit
- 2012 - maart: Eerste keer boven de 30 000 bezoeken per dag. Op zondag 25 maart sneuvelt opnieuw een bezoekersrecord: Meer dan 32 000 (32 610 om precies te zijn) bezoeken worden geteld op die dag. Het vorige record dateert van 15 augustus 2011 (29 485 bezoeken per dag). Ook leuk om weten is dat een jaar gelegden in dat weekend (zondag) er nog maar slechts 18 065 bezoeken waren per dag. De eerste keer dat we meer dan 20 000 bezoeken per dag hadden was April 2011. De eerste keer dat we meer dan 10 000 bezoeken per dag hadden was maart 2009.
- 2012 - april: In de maand april 2012 kwamen meer dan 800.000 bezoekers langs op RouteYou (842.542 om precies te zijn). Het vorige record was "slechts" 649 000 bezoekers in de maand augustus vorig jaar. Op zondag 29 april moest ook het vorige dagrecord er aan geloven: 45 222 bezoeken op één dag.
- 2012 - juni: Trage Wegen en RouteYou zetten een samenwerking op
- 2012 - aug: RouteYou brengt zijn HTLM5 mobiele website uit als m.routeyou.com
- 2012 - sept: Westtoer en Nord brengen een grensoverschrijdende wandelplanner live met RouteYou (de digitale dimensie in het wandellandschap zet zich duidelijk verder door)
- 2012 - juni: Trage Wegen en RouteYou zetten een samenwerking op
- 2013 - maart: RouteYou lenceert AskMe, één van de vele methodes waarmee crowdsourcing wordt gebruikt om het RouteYou netwerk uniek te maken
- 2013 - maart: Bloso lanceert de online MTB planner.
- 2013 - mei: RouteYou structureert website rondom landen om SEO nog te verbeteren
- 2013 - juli : RouteYou telt de 1 000 000 ste route die gemaakt is of opgeladen werd op RouteYou.
- 2013 - augustus : RouteYou telt opnieuw meer dan 1 000 000 bezoeken per maand
- 2013 - sept : RouteYou biedt de mogelijkheid van substypes aan aan al zijn gebruikers en biedt ook de zoekmogelijkheden aan om op de subtypes te selecteren
- 2014 - maart: Zondag 9 maart had niet alleen record temperaturen in de Benelux, maar ook nog eens een record aantal bezoeken op www.routeyou.com: 46 430 bezoeken op één dag. De vorige piek was op 29 april 2012 (zie hoger)
