A track can be defined as a virtual 'breadcrum' path, as if you were dropping breadcrums while following your journey.

A track does not contain or provide specific instructions at junctions. Nor does it necessarily follow a network.

Several GPS devices use the concept of a 'track' to allow you to follow a path without matching the path on the network or giving you specific instructions.
