What is the personal heatmap?

In addition to the more general RouteYou heatmap , we also provide a personal heatmap where only your own routes are taken into account.

With your personal heatmap we visualize the most popular parts of your routes. The more 'heat' you see, the more of your routes pass through that specific section. We base this on all routes available under your account. This makes the heatmap a unique tool for rediscovering great paths or exploring new ones.

We also have a separate heatmap for each route type (Read more here).

Note: For technical reasons, routes longer than 300 km are not taken into account for the personal heatmaps.

For whom?

The personal heatmap is available to users with a RouteYou Plus account or higher.

How can I use my personal heatmap?

As soon as you, as a RouteYou Plus user or higher, have your own self-planned route, the personal heatmap is available as a separate map layer with each map. You can activate the heatmap by clicking on the map layer icon   at the top right of the map.

By default, when you activate the "personal heatmap" map layer, all your routes of each route type are taken into account. However, you can easily filter for a specific route type by choosing the desired route type in the plan module on the left. For example, if you choose route type 'sailing route', then your heatmap will be built based on your sailing routes only.

Please note that in the RouteViewer you do not have the possibility to filter on route type.

How is the personal heatmap constructed?

The color intensity in the heatmap is calculated based on your routes. The more intense a road or path is visible in the heatmap, the more popular that path is in your routes on RouteYou.

If you notice incorrect information in your heatmap, please do not hesitate to contact us at support[at-r.].
