Google Maps as a RouteYou Plus Feature
Google Maps as a MyRouteYou Plus Feature
In most places where maps are used (RouteViewer, RouteFinder, RoutePlanner, etc.) you can choose which map you want to use as a background. With a RouteYou Plus account you can also opt for Google Maps with the familiar Google maps or Google satellite images.
Google Streetview Plus Feature
If you have a Plus account (or higher) and you have selected the Google map or satellite images, you can still use Google Streetview.
Why is this not longer for free?
In 2018, Google Maps drastically changed the pricing model. That only took effect at RouteYou when our license had to be renewed in 2019. The cost for RouteYou to offer Google Maps and Google Streetview would therefore be up to 40 times higher (yes, you read that right!). It is impossible to cover this cost with advertising revenue only, which unfortunately made it necessary to only offer this functionality to users with a paying subscription.
The default map mayer is now OpenStreetMap
RouteYou chooses the maps of OpenStreetMap as the standard map layer. The many routing options offered are also based on OpenStreetMap map information, supplemented with RouteYou information that we collect ourselves or that we received as feedback from our community.
