Adding photo(s) to a route
Table of contents
Why?
If you have created a route, you can attach one or more photos to your route without linking that photo to a specific place. Images accompanying your route give other users an idea of what to expect along your route. Images sometimes say more than texts or statistics. Especially if the offer is large and a user has to make a choice quickly.
If you don't select media yourself, we will choose one image based on your POIs or POIs from others nearby. However, it is never as appropriate as your own selection of one or more photos for that route. A well-chosen photo also makes for a better route score.
We display that photo(s) in numerous places (see below).
How?
- Select the desired route
- Select the option "Images, videos" via the Edit pencil
You will immediately be directed to the appropriate section on the editing page with the basic details of your route.
Here you can add one or more pictures.
Note! You will not see the "Images, videos" option if the route is not yours or if you are not logged in.
So where is (are) the photo(s) to be seen?
If you add photos to a route, they can be seen in the photo carousel in the RouteViewer.
The first photo you add to the route also shows up in most listings:
- the list of search results in the RouteSearcher
- the list of "routes nearby" a place
- the list of recommended routes
- the overview list of routes by a specific author
As an alternative: link a photo to a POI!
Read how to attach a photo to a POI here.
And read here how to link an individual POI to your route (e.g. via the POI-PUSH).
