How to use routes you find on your desktop and use them on your smartphone

There are several ways to quickly access (or have accessed) on smartphone or tablet a route you have prepared on desktop.

You will now be able to view the route.

There are two possibilities, both of which have very similar functions:

  1. The route opens in a browser on your smartphone. You can now see the RouteYou website on your mobile phone. The website works in the same way as the RouteYou application, but within the browser of your phone. You can now navigate the route (for more information, click here).
  2. If you have already installed the RouteYou application, your device will detect the installed application and open the route in the app. To find out more, click here. Consult the FAQ if you have already installed the RouteYou application, but the route does not open in the app.

Click on the map and click ‘Start’ to navigate. Read more here.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have installed the RouteYou application, but the route still opens in the browser. How can I solve this problem?

Normally, if you have installed the RouteYou application (find out how to do this here) then a route will open on it automatically. You then need to click on a route link on your smartphone (e.g. via e-mail, Facebook post, QR code, ...).

However, there are exceptions (Safari/Apple like to do things a bit differently from Google Chrome). Sometimes the route is opened via the RouteYou website on your smartphone and not via the RouteYou application. This is not a problem in itself, as the functionality is quite similar in both environments.

How do we solve this problem?

Method 1: Via ‘Last viewed’

Method 2: Via the route code

How do I know if I'm using the old or the new application?
