POIViewR Plugin

The POIViewR allow you to show POI info on your website. To understand the documentation below, you have to understand the difference between a location and a POI. A location is a point on the Earth, which has a name and a coordinate. To a location, texts (a combination of text and/or a picture) can be attached which provide more info about that location. A combination of a location (which has a unique location id in RouteYou) and a text (which has a unique text id) is called a POI.

Adapt the POIViewR plug-in towards your own taste

To add the POIViewR to your website, you have to insert some HTML code into the place where the POIViewR has to be displayed. The base structure of the HTML looks like this:

<script type="text/javascript">
    routeyou_poiviewer_width = 1024;
    routeyou_poiviewer_width = 768;
    routeyou_poiviewer_location = 47227546;
    routeyou_poiviewer_text = 578989;
    routeyou_poiviewer_language = 'nl';
    routeyou_poiviewer_theme = THEME_ID;
</script>
<script id="routeyou_script_id" src="http://ws.routeyou.com/poi_viewer.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

where THEME_ID is a POIViewer id provided by RouteYou and is different for every customer. You can adapt the variables so the POIViewR looks more like you want to on your website.

Variables

The plugin has a transparent background, which means that it uses the background color or image of its parent HTML element.

Use the POIViewR with the MAPSEARCH 2.0 plugin

If you are not familiar with the MAPSEARCH 2.0 plugin, it is recommended to read its documentation first.

The MAPSEARCH plugin has a variable 'location.text.link' which can be used to set the URL to a page in which the POIViewR is plugged in. When you click on a location in the MAPSEARCH plugin, you will be redirected to the page with that URL.

Example:

RTY.MapSearch.load({
        ...
        'location.text.link': 'http://www.yourwebsite.com/yourpage?location=%id%&text=%text_id%',
        ...
    });

%id% and %text_id% are placeholders for the location id and the text id respectively. The MAPSEARCH 2.0 plugin will replace them with the correct location id and text id.

Use the POIViewR with the MAPSEARCH plugin

This version of the MapSEARCH plugin is deprecated. Please use the new MAPSEARCH 2.0 plugin (see above).

The MAPSEARCH plugin has a variable routeyou_search_link_poi which can be used to set the URL to a page in which the POIViewR is plugged in. When you click on a location in the MapSEARCH plugin, you will be redirected to the page with that URL.

Example:

routeyou_search_link_poi = 'http://www.yourwebsite.com/yourpage?location=%location_id%&text=%text_id%';

%location_id% and %text_id% are placeholders for the location id and the text id. The MapSEARCH plugin will replace them with the correct location id and text id.
