What does the score of a POI mean
At a place of interest or POI you will see a scoring system (spheres):

The simple explanation of the score is that it is a measure of the importance of the POI. But technically it is more correct to say that it is a measure of the information value of a POI. In other words, it's an indicator how much information is available about this POI on Routeyou. The indirect assumption is that the more information there is already about the POI and location, the more important that POI becomes.
How is the score of a POI determined
The score of a POI is determined on the basis of the presence or characteristics of the following elements:
- Type: better a specific than general type of POI
- Optimal length of a text (not too long but also not too short)
- 500 characters is a good target
- If you have more, split your text in several POIs, providing information about a different topic
- A photo or a video
- A reference to a resource or a website with more information
- Linking of characteristics, themes or groups. Caution: too many links and incorrect info will be penalized.
- Information in multiple languages
- Multiple POIs linked to the same location.
- Different authors adding info to the same location
What effect does the score have
In searches, the score plays an important role, but it is not the only factor that determines whether a POI ends up higher or lower in the 'Relevance' list. Other factors are also taken into account, such as:
- recency
- number of views
- the number of users who bookmark this POI

"My hotel/B&B has a score of just 1. That's not right..."
It is true that the score we use here has nothing to do with the quality of the service offered in a particular place. Let alone that it is linked to other rating systems such as Michelin stars. It's not because a museum has a score of 5 that the service there is fantastic. Or vice versa, just because a hotel has a score of 1 doesn't mean it isn't a good hotel.
The score (the number of spheres) is a measure of the amount of information, and indirectly the importance of a POI (see above).
